The second season of The Real Housewives of New York City reboot is finally over, and fans are still talking. Much of this has to do with how things ended between Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield at the end of the reunion. However, fans have also noticed that Brynn implied in the show that Ubah didn’t know about her past trauma related to sexual assault.
For context, Ubah claimed during the show’s finale that Brynn had been picked for the show because she slept with someone who had power over casting. This prompted Brynn to bring up her past sexual assault and say that Ubah knew, which would make what she accused her of even more offensive. Of course, Ubah said she didn’t know, and Brynn later even doubted whether her castmate knew. After the finale aired, many fans turned on Brynn even more than they already had.
Recently, a fan took to r/BravoRealHousewives on Reddit and provided receipts to prove that Brynn had not told Ubah about her past instance of being sexually assaulted. The person captioned the post, “Brynn claimed — on the show and then doubled down in her recent RS interview — that she told Ubah, but earlier on episode 10, she told her brother word for word on camera ‘You’re the only person I told’…”
The post itself includes a 32-second clip from the show where Brynn is talking to her brother, and she’s very emotional in the scene. She says, “You’re the only person I told. I think, yeah, you’re the only person I told.”
Brynn went on in the clip, “And I don’t fu***** trust anyone anymore.”
Her brother chimed in, “I mean, we’ve had many conversations about this. There’s no playbook on how to talk to someone about that. Every time that you open up and tell me what you’re feeling, it gives me insight into why you are the way you are in a lot of ways, and that’s very good for a relationship. It sucks for you because I’m the only person that you…”
Brynn then finishes his sentence by saying, “Trust.”
Naturally, people are sympathetic to Brynn and anyone else who has gone through this in their lives. The problem is that she not only told a lie about Ubah, but she also weaponized her trauma to try and win an argument.
So far, the Reddit post has almost 800 upvotes and around 200 comments. One user said, “Baby…one thing the internet will do is INVESTIGATE! Don’t take your ass on TV and lie and not expect to be found tf out! Well done detective DTO.”
Someone else said, “Reddit sleuths and Bravo fans always get to the bottom of things. Always. If I ever go missing, I want you all on the case!”
Another fan added, “The Bravo fans are one thing- not stupid!!!”
Fans can rewatch Brynn on RHONY on Peacock.
