Buck's New Home In 9-1-1 Season 9 Teased By Oliver Stark

Big changes are happening for Evan "Buck" Buckley (Oliver Stark) as 9‑1‑1 gears up for its next season. With season 8 wrapping up only on May 15, the show's finale included the emotional fallout following Bobby’s funeral and life-altering moments for the 118 team. Amid all these changes, Buck found himself needing a change, which meant moving out of Eddie Diaz's (Ryan Guzman) home and into his own space.

During an interview with TVInsider, Stark spoke about Buck's living situation for 9-1-1 season 9, hinting that Buck’s next move involves more than proximity; it’s about purpose. Stark thinks Buck will find a place that truly reflects who he is becoming. After leaving the loft and moving out of Eddie’s house, Buck is ready to plant roots in a place that matches his personal growth.

The loft that he was in for a long time was great, and obviously, he let that go. And I think he probably liked living at Eddie’s [Ryan Guzman], but it wasn’t his, right? He was there for a reason: to help out his friend. And I think it’s time for him to step into that next version of himself reflected in the space that he lives in.

What Buck Moving Into A New Home Means For 9-1-1 Season 9

Buck Wants A More Grounded Life

Buck getting his place next season is a turning point in his personal and professional journey. No longer living in a space shared tied to his ex or Eddie, he’s stepping into a home that reflects him and his growth. The move proves that Buck is ready to be more independent and not rely on the company of friends to feel safe.

Stark mentioned in his interview that he hopes Buck will find a place with a lot of natural light and a kitchen for homemade breakfasts, which means Stark wants Buck to embrace a more grounded and simple life. His past homes were bogged with memories of his past relationships that were triggering, so he should be in a house that is brand new and free of negative energy. This fresh start means Buck is ready to redefine his future.

Our Take On Buck Moving Out Of Eddie's

Buck Needs His Independence

Buck moving out of Eddie’s house is a major shift for both characters. While their time as roommates brought a sense of comfort when they both needed it the most, it was time for Buck to move on after going through some emotionally difficult times. Eddie's house is a reminder of that, and Buck is clearly ready for a fresh start, even if he's scared to move on. Also, with the speculation of a possible romance between Buck and Eddie, it's probably best for them to live apart to avoid ruining their friendship.

However, this move doesn’t take away the bond between Buck and Eddie but highlights how far they’ve come individually. For Buck, creating his own space shows he's ready to stand on his own, while Eddie is also ready to let Buck find his independence. Buck moving is not goodbye but a move forward that allows both 9-1-1 characters to evolve while remaining close friends.
