Buffalo Bills become the latest team to join an unfortunate NFL injury trend at a key position

The Buffalo Bills are dealing with something that plenty of teams around the NFL are dealing with — injuries to wide receivers. Bills' rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman is attempting to work his way back from the wrist/hand injury that he suffered on the hit he took from former-Bills safety Jordan Poyer in the game against Miami on Sunday. In Thursday's practice, Coleman was spotted at practice.

Coleman still has an uphill battle to return to the field this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. With one practice left to go this week, it'll be important to see Coleman able to handle passes in team drills and show that he has the ability to catch fastballs from quarterback Josh Allen.

There are plenty of other injuries to monitor at the wide receiver position as well, with YAC-monster and leading Buffalo receiver Khalil Shakir looking like the only healthy option.

Amari Cooper, who missed last week, did not catch passes in team drills as he recovers from a wrist injury that still remains wrapped. Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel were also spotted in red non-contact jerseys.

The wide receiver group is looking pretty banged up heading into the weekend, with multiple of them very much in doubt to play. This could create a situation where the running backs and tight ends will be heavily relied upon in this week's game.

The Colts don't pose the same threat that an elite team would, but every team in the NFL deserves respect. It looks like the Bills could be rolling into this game with a more focused diet of Khalil Shakir, James Cook , and Dalton Kincaid, particularly going against a defense that ranks 28th in the league in EPA/rush play on defense. Feed Cook and rookie running back Ray Davis in this matchup and let Allen hit play action off of it. There's still plenty of ways for this offense to find success.
