Buffalo Bills reportedly checking on Seattle Seahawks star DK Metcalf in what would be a massive acquisition for Josh Allen

With the news that Deebo Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders for a 5th round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the offseason moves have officially begun, and it was a big one. The Buffalo Bills, who don't have a lot of spending room in free agency but have a general manager in Brandon Beane that made it clear that he's not afraid to trade draft picks to go get players that make the Bills better, are definitely a team to watch over the next couple months before the draft.

The assumption is that a big move would be to get a difference maker on the defensive line, but it sounds like the Bills might be poking around at a position that many people would be surprised at.

According to Corbin Smith, who covers the Seattle Seahawks for Emerald City Spectrum and for Locked On Seahawks, the Bills, along with the Chiefs, are keeping their eyes on the Seahawks' current situation with star wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Any good general manager is going to keep apprised of any situation that's unfolding. While the Seahawks want to get an extension done with Metcalf, if the two sides remain too far apart, perhaps they'd be willing to move on.

Metcalf is currently not cheap. An acquiring team would be absorbing a $31.8 million cap hit in 2025, the last deal of Metcalf's contract. If the Bills were to trade for him, it would be fair to assume that an extension would be coming. That would tie him to Allen beyond one year, while lowering Metcalf's cap hit.

It's certainly a situation to watch. Some might question why the Bills would be willing to move for Metcalf a year after parting ways with Stefon Diggs, but it's not like the team intentionally doesn't want good players. Metcalf would provide an unbelievable physical and explosive outside threat the likes of which Josh Allen has never had at his disposal. The long speed, along with his ability to take any catch the distance, would make him a dynamic weapon in the Bills passing attack. Time will tell if this potential deal ends up getting any traction.
