The NHL draft continues with Rounds 2 through 7, which begin at noon Saturday in Los Angeles. This year’s draft is decentralized, and Sabres hockey operations department will work out of the Bills’ facilities in Orchard Park.
The New York Islanders hold the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, and are expected to select Michael Schaefer, a defenseman from Erie of the Ontario Hockey League.
Projections for the first-round pick are varied for the Sabres, as mock drafts from multiple publications project the Sabres to draft players such as defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson of Barrie of the Ontario Hockey League, center Roger McQueen of the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, or right wing Victor Eklund of Djurgardens of the Swedish Hockey League.
