The Houston Texans were among the big surprises in the 2023 NFL season. In just the first season of C.J. Stroud in the pros, he was able to guide the Texans into the franchise’s first playoff appearance since 2019. Not only that but Houston also topped the AFC South division for the first time in four years with a 10-7 record.
After the surprise they pulled off in 2023 and some shiny new additions to the team in the offseason, the Texans now carry bigger expectations and more intense pressure to win. Making the playoffs isn’t just going to be enough this time around for Houston. Texans wide receiver Tank Dell also knows that Houston has the rest of the league put on notice.
“We ready,” Dell said (h/t Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2). “We’re all excited. We know we have a target on our back. We got a lot of things we want to accomplish: Super Bowl, playoffs, things like that. So, we’re ready to go work.”
In 2023, Dell and the Texans ranked 13th in the league with 22.7 points per game and eighth with 243.6 passing yards per game, with Stroud cracking the league’s top 10 with 4,108 passing yards despite zero NFL experience a year before.
Houston Texans’ Tank Dell can’t wait for the start of the 2024 NFL season
Dell, whose rookie season was cut short by a lower-body injury and suffered a gunshot wound in the offseason, is looking forward to making a bigger impact on the field for the Texans.
“I’m way better,” Dell said. “I feel like I’m way better than I was last year at this time. The little bit of experience I got before I got injured, I already know the playbook. So, I don’t have to put too much stress on that. I’m just working every day. I know I’m ready.”
Drafted in the second round (69th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Texans, Dell recorded 709 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 47 catches last season.
