Canadiens Celebrate The Captain's Wedding

It may be the dog days of Summer, but this is peak wedding time, and this weekend, there were plenty of Montreal Canadiens players and former Habs in town. Everyone had gathered to celebrate the union of team captain Nick Suzuki and his longtime girlfriend, Caitlin Fitzgerald. The couple is from both London, Ontario, and first met in high school.

As first reported by makeup artist Claudia Vitorino, the couple got married on June 9, 2025, in Turks and Caicos. The new Mrs. Suzuki shared a reel on Instagram last night, just before the celebrations began, and captioned it, “Just the two of us, forever.” Given the fact that they live under the Montreal magnifying glass, it’s no surprise that the couple craved some alone time and decided to go for a destination intimate wedding.

Sniper Cole Caufield poked fun at the couple, commenting on the Instagram reel, “Thanks for the invite”, but just like everyone else, he was in Montreal last night, a month and a half after the actual ceremony, to celebrate the couple’s marriage.

Former Habs had been flocking to the city this week, a dead giveaway that something was brewing. Tyler Toffoli and his wife Cat, Jeff and Julie Petry, Carey and Angela Price, and even Tanner Pearson, whose tenure as a Canadien only lasted 54 games.

As for current players, pictures were shared on social media attesting to the presence of Caufield, Lane Hutson, Ivan Demidov, and Patrik Laine last night. However, we also saw Juraj Slafkovsky return to town and miss a team-building activity with Team Slovakia to attend the bash, so it’s obvious he was there, especially since he was fitted for a suit earlier this week with Arber Xhekaj at Top & Notch Custom.

Jake Evans was also in town practicing and spent his Saturday with Toffoli, who’s a good friend of his. Emma Fortin, Brendan Gallagher’s wife, posted pictures from the Friday night welcome party, meaning the alternate captain was also back in town.

While the actual ceremony in the tropical location was a very private affair, the celebrations seem to have been a very inclusive event, and you’d expect nothing less from a team captain’s wedding. While not everyone’s presence can be confirmed through social media, as not everyone uses these platforms, it’s evident that everyone was invited. The Canadiens are building a great team culture, and Suzuki is the man leading the charge.

Congratulations to the captain and his bride, and may their union last forever.
