Canadiens Fans Furious at Referees After Alex Ovechkin Makes Dirty Hit on Jake Evans

The Montreal Canadiens are fighting for their lives tonight as they host the Washington Capitals in goal.

A loss would have the team facing elimination in game five as the series moves back to Washington, which would be a very difficult hole to climb out of.

Making matters worse is the fact that Sam Montembeault is injured, so the team has turned to rookie Jakub Dobes in net for game four.

Dobes has been very good in the game as he has fought to keep Montreal in it, but that is no longer the most pressing issue on Habs fans minds.

Rather, a play that happened in the second period has many fans questioning the officials once again.

Alex Ovechkin was called for a minor penalty for interference for a high hit on Jake Evans.

Understandably, Habs fans were not happy with the call, nor have they been happy with the officials in general throughout the series.

That being said, perhaps Canadiens fans are simply frustrated that Ovechkin continues to be an unstoppable force.

He leads the Capitals with three goals through four games although he has not been much of a factor tonight, aside from the penalty as the Canadiens did score on the ensuing powerplay.

Will the two clubs head back to Washington all tied up or will the Capitals take a commanding 3-1 series lead?

Will Ovechkin score again before the series is over? Could he win another Conn Smythe to go along with another Stanley Cup? Stay tuned to find out.
