Canadiens lose Game 1 to Capitals 3-2 in overtime

   

The moment has finally arrived for these young Montreal Canadiens: they begin their best-of-seven series with Game 1 against the Washington Capitals on Monday night at Capital One Arena.

Many Canadiens will be making their playoff debuts, including recent arrival Ivan Demidov. So too will starting netminder Sam Montembeault.

Veteran defenceman David Savard, on the other hand, announced prior to the playoffs that he would retire at season’s end.

The Capitals won the season series between the two clubs, winning twice in regulation and losing once in overtime.
