Montreal Canadiens star forward Cole Caufield had an excellent 2024-25 season. In 82 games this past campaign with the Atlantic Division club, the 2019 first-round pick set new career highs with 37 goals and 70 points. With this, the Mosinee, Wisconsin native led the Canadiens in goals and finished second in points. Thus, he was a significant reason why the Canadiens made it back into the playoffs this year.
Yet, even with how marvelously Caufield continues to play for the Canadiens each season, there is still reason to believe that he has not hit his ceiling yet. At just 24 years old, he is still plenty young enough to hit a new level, and it would not be surprising in the slightest if his offensive totals improved even further during the 2025-26 season. This is especially so when noting that the Canadiens have other exciting young players who are only continuing to improve as they gain more experience.
Caufield also only seems to get better with each season that passes, too. This is especially the case when it comes to his scoring, as he has improved his goal totals in each season that passes. With this, the possibility of him recording, say, 40 goals and 80 points next season should absolutely not be ruled out. He has the skill and potential to hit these kinds of numbers if he stays healthy.
It is going to be very fascinating to see what kind of season Caufield has in 2025-26, but he very well could take another step forward in his development.
