Details on Candiace Dillard Bassett's singing career
After Candiace joined RHOP in Season 3, viewers got to watch as she explored her music career on the show. After working in the White House under President Barack Obama and winning the title of Miss United States in 2013, Candiace decided to tackle the music industry head-on, around the time that she was set to wed her husband, Chris Bassett.
"When I was getting married, I knew that I wanted to write a song and perform for Chris," she told BravoTV.com in May 2023. "I didn't plan for that to be a segue, but it ended up being the segue. And then I literally just, again, followed the path, and it all just kind of fell into place. Meeting my manager fell into place. Getting signed by my label fell into place. Everything just happened the way it was supposed to happen and I believe it was going to happen that way."
Candiace even won "Song of the Year" for "Drive Back" at The Bravos at BravoCon 2023. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her husband for his support and for being the inspiration behind her song. "To my man, my man, my man, who this song was written about," she said in the speech. "No matter what miserable, sad souls may try to infiltrate our marriage, I will always drive back home to you. I love you, thank you."
