The OHL's leading goal scorer in the 2023-24 season is heading to the Vancouver Canucks, as they've selected him with the 162nd overall pick on Saturday.
Romani, 18, was passed over in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and used that as motivation to put up an explosive 2023-24 campaign with North Bay where he led the entire Ontario Hockey League in goals and was second in points, only behind Kraken prospect David Goyette.
The Pickering, Ontario native appeared in 68 games for the North Bay Battalion last season where he put up 111 points (58 goals, 53 assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a plus-43. He added four points in three OHL playoff games.
Romani is expected to go back to North Bay again next season and is a strong candidate for Canada's World Junior roster in December on home ice, depending on how he starts the 2024-25 campaign.
