The Vancouver Canucks are bringing in a local guy to play a depth role for Rick Tocchet over the next couple of years.
In a post on social media, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've signed forward Danton Heinen to a two-year contract worth $4.5 million ($2.25 million AAV).
Heinen, a native of Langley, British Columbia had a solid year with the Boston Bruins in 2023-24, scoring the second most goals in a single season of his NHL career so far.
In 74 games for Boston, Heinen had 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists), 28 penalty minutes and was a plus-16. He added one assist in eight games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The 28-year-old should play a third-line role for the Vancouver Canucks next season, but could easily slide up and down throughout the lineup as Rick Tocchet sees fit. For $2.25 million AAV, this could end up being a really good signing for Patrik Allvin and it'll be interesting to see how Heinen fits in next season.
