Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Over the past month of play, he's been one of the top quarterbacks in the NFC. The timing of his dominance could not have come at a better time for him and his team.
Kyler Murray and Call of Duty
For his entire career, the Cardinals QB has been tied to the video game. Murray has always been open about his interest in gaming, streaming, and everything in that realm.
That's what he enjoys to do in his free time, and plenty of people his age would agree with that sentiment. Many fans and analysts turned that interest on its head when he signed his contract extension in Arizona.
That being said, the social media world began to criticize the quarterback more often for his hobby when his extension in 2022 included an "independent study" clause.
That piece of the contract required Murray to spend time each week studying film. It was an ultra-specific ask for a player, who was already garnering questions about how much time he was working on his game.
That particular clause in his deal was later removed. Murray, on multiple occasions, scoffed at anyone doubting his commitment and work ethic due to video games. The entire situation gained steam on social media rather quickly in 2022. -- A to Z Sports
Simply put, Kyler is punching the narrative that Call of Duty could distract him, directly in the face so far this season.
The Cardinals are undefeated since Black Ops 6 came out.
If you remember, Murray announced a partnership with Call of Duty ahead of the release of the latest game. Clearly, he's been balancing playing video games and preparing himself for NFL action in a perfect way this season.
Murray is not satisfied, though. He is ready to keep succeeding alongside his teammates in Arizona.
The Cardinals are 6-4 after ten games, leading the NFC West. They are one of the biggest surprises of the 2024 NFL season so far.
