Watch: Cassidy says Golden Knights have best D core

When asked whether the Vegas Golden Knights have the best group of defensemen in the NHL, Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy wasn’t shy with his response.

“The short answer is yes, we do,” Cassidy said.

Additionally, the recent spell of good defensive play can be attributed to the health of the defensive core. They’ve been able to build continuity and chemistry in an area that has been one of the strengths of the Golden Knights for the past few years.

Even if the Golden Knights were to dip into its reserves, they would have two strong options to compensate for injury or poor play. Ben Hutton and Kaedan Korczak have seen time this season and have played well when they hit the ice.

So, it’s no question why Cassidy considers his team to have the best blue line.

It was the big reason they lifted the Stanley Cup two years ago, and given how they’re trending, it might be another deep run for the Golden Knights.

When the time comes to reflect on why, look no further than the defensemen.
