Catherine O’Hara will be trading in her Moira Rose wigs for survival gear.

Last year, the Schitt’s Creek star, 70, signed on for season 2 of post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us, though she’s remained quiet about the details of her role.

"I have an odd relationship with Pedro's character," O'Hara told Entertainment Weekly, referring to series star Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller. "You don't quite know why she's got...well, she's got this edge to her, but it makes for some weird, good dark comedy, I think. So it's there. I never want to deny the gift of humor."

She also teased that the second season of the hit HBO show “is way more intense if you know the game” on which it is based.

O’Hara found filming with Pascal, 49, and his costar Bella Ramsey to be intense, too.

"I just love working with Pedro Pascal," she continued. "Both of them. Bella. Wow. Was that intimating? It always is. It's not my territory …You're just like, thank you for inviting me and I'll try to be a good guest. But they were very kind to me and it was great."

The two-time Emmy winner first learned about The Last of Us from her sons Luke and Matthew Welch, one of whom now works as a set dresser on the series. And she might just bring her signature humor to the part.

"You can't take that out of your life," the Beetlejuice Bettlejuice star said. "And when you do, it makes for a very dull performance."

While speaking to PEOPLE in February 2024, Pascal said filming on season 2 “is going amazing.”

“Everybody, our entire crew, they’re working harder than I can even imagine, even harder than our first season — which is close to impossible,” the actor said.

He also said that season 2 had a fresh feeling to it.

“Going back to season 2 and stepping back into those boots again, it feels strangely brand new,” Pascal said. “I’ve never done anything like this before that has original authorship and then to be given the space and author what I have to give…. to be with [show co-creator] Craig Mazin and Bella Ramsey is what works for me.”

Season 1 earned 24 nominations at the 2023 Emmys and won eight of those awards, including giving Nick Offerman his first Emmy win for his role as lonely survivor Bill and child actor Keivonn Montreal Woodard becoming the youngest actor to win in the outstanding guest actor award at age 10.

The Last of Us season 1 also earned four Golden Globe nominations in 2024, including one in the best television drama category.

The Last of Us season 1 is streaming now on Max.

The Last of Us returns in April and season 2 will pick up five years after the end of season 1. Dopesick's Kaitlyn Dever and Beef star Young Mazino will appear in season 2 as well.

The first season followed rugged loner Joel as he tried to make good on his promise to bring wise-beyond-her-years teen Ellie (Ramsey) to a science lab on the other side of the country. The unlikely duo trekked through danger to figure out if Ellie’s seeming immunity could cure the world of a zombie-like scourge.
