Chicago Cubs Powered By Offense In 6-0 Win Over Boston Red Sox
The offense of the Chicago Cubs had a night to remember at home against the Boston Red Sox. They hit five home runs in a 6-0 win this evening. First Baseman Michael Busch, Right Fielder Kyle Tucker, Third Baseman Matt Shaw, Center Fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Left Fielder Ian Happ all hit solo home runs in Saturday night’s victory.
That was more than enough run support for Starting Pitcher Shota Imanaga. He tossed seven scoreless innings and punched out five. Can the offense of the Chicago Cubs keep it going in its upcoming games?
Chicago Cubs’ Offensive Prowess
As was on display tonight, Chicago’s offense is one of the best in Major League Baseball. They are fifth in the league in batting average, second in home runs, and leading the league in runs scored. Crow-Armstrong and Designated Hitter Seiya Suzuki have paced Chicago’s offense. Suzuki is sixth in the league in home runs, fourth in RBI, and 11th in Slugging Percentage. PCA is also sixth in home runs, eighth in RBI, and 10th in Slugging Percentage. Chicago’s offense has helped the team maintain a slim lead in the National League Central.
Final Thoughts
This has been a very successful series for the Chicago Cubs. They took the first two games off a Red Sox team that came to town winners of 10 straight games. If the Cubs can continue playing this well, it will be a successful summer in the “Windy City.”
