'Chicago P.D.' Season 12, Episode 21 Promo Teases Voight and Reid's Epic Showdown

Tensions between Voight (Jason Beghe) and Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) have been simmering throughout Chicago P.D. Season 12.

With every interaction, the men learned just how different they were from each other, despite Reid's attempt to begin a "friendship" with Voight and his unit. However, Voight has decided that Reid is not someone anyone wants to be friends with because he puts people under his thumb and forces them to do his dirty work. The plan is to remove themselves from under Reid's control. In Episode 21, "Open Casket," The showdown with Deputy Chief Reid intensifies when Intelligence narrows in on Ortero. A sneak peek of the episode airing next Wednesday, May 14, teases the team's plan to obliterate Reid and remove him from the board once and for all.

Voight loves nothing more than a virtuous crusade and will go to any extremes to achieve his goal if he's convinced he's doing it for the right reasons. "Reid keeps criminals in power and he murders innocents to do it," he says in the video below, proving that he's decided what must happen. However, Reid keeps himself insulated by using go-betweens when doing something dirty. Intelligence decides to get to him through some of his friends, and they zero in on Ortero. They seem to have succeeded when Ortero gives in and asks Voight what he wants. "I want Reid," he says with a look that says he means business. Taking down Reid won't be easy. "[He] shows himself to be a formidable opponent," showrunner Gwen Sigan teased. Reid could strike back or cut and run, but he doesn't seem like someone to run.

What's On the Horizon in 'Chicago P.D.' Season 12?

We are two weeks away from the Season 12 finale. As the war between Reid, Voight, and Intelligence heats up, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) prepare for their wedding. The finale is titled "Vows" and allows them to tie the knot after twelve years. "[Burgess] looks gorgeous. It was fun to shoot that, not just as the last episode, but also, we shot that on the last day of the shooting schedule, and it was nice to all be together," series star Toya Turner teased. The show also touches on other personal storylines as "Chapman (Sara Bues) grows closer to Voight, and Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) faces the emotional fall-out of his actions." NBC delivered some exciting news for Chicago P.D. fans after renewing the show for Season 13, set to premiere this fall.
