Well, there’s going to be joy and angst in the Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale, airing on Wednesday, May 21. In fact, the photos offer a look at the former and the promo the latter, for the aptly titled “Vows.”
The good news: Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) are finally getting married. Their loved ones will be on hand for the event, with photos offering a look at the ceremony (we love Burgess’ dress). Check those out below.
But it’s what’s going on in the promo — which you can watch up top — that has us worried about how the season might end. In the penultimate episode, Intelligence’s attempt to go after the dirty Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) backfired. When Voight (Jason Beghe) tried to use Otero (Juan Javier Cardenas) to take him down, the drug dealer was killed. And then Reid used the information he’d gathered on Intelligence. Reid arrested Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) for official misconduct due to his sexual relationship with his CI, Gloria Perez. He then stripped Burgess of all police powers and suspended her immediately (no-pay status) pending further review for official misconduct in aid and destruction of evidence regarding Torres’ illegal relationship. He forced her to hand over her badge. Finally, he informed Voight, “This Intelligence unit is hereby disbanded, pending further review.”
Now, the promo for the finale shows Reid holding a press conference announcing a full investigation into Intelligence. Chapman (Sara Rue) warns Voight not to do something he can’t turn back from, but he says, “I have to.” But who’s in the car that flips over?!
The logline for “Vows” teases, “Forced to cease operations while under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence goes off-book to bring down Reid once and for all; Ruzek and Burgess consider delaying their nuptials amid the uncertainty.” Well, the below photos suggest the latter won’t be happening, but maybe it will be a question of who can be in attendance and when it takes place?
