Chicago P.D. Season 13 SHOCKER: Burgess Faces TRAUMA, Major Cast Changes, and a New Hero Emerges!

Chicago P.D. fans are bracing for what appears to be another intense season as new behind-the-scenes photos reveal Kim Burgess facing serious trauma in the upcoming 13th season.

The hit police procedural, produced by Dick Wolf, continues production with action-packed storylines that have viewers on edge. Wolf Entertainment’s official Instagram account recently shared a revealing image of Marina Squerciati‘s character Burgess in the makeup chair, complete with blood splatter effects being applied by the show’s team.

While the specific details of this storyline remain under wraps, the photo suggests fans should prepare for another challenging arc for the beloved character.

The timing of this potential trauma comes at a crucial point in Burgess’s story. Chicago P.D. Season 13 will explore how recent life changes affect her personal life and profession. Having recently married while nearly losing her job, Burgess faces a crossroad regarding her role within the unit.

“I definitely think Burgess [will approach the job differently],” showrunner Gwen Sigan explained following the season finale. “For her, she had a lot to do with all of this, but she was really just trying to have someone’s back. She was just trying to have her teammate’s back, and so to see the consequences of it, I think it will have an effect on how she moves forward.”

Beyond storyline developments, Chicago P.D. Season 13 brings significant cast changes that have dominated headlines in recent months. The show confirmed the departure of Toya Turner, who will not return for the upcoming season. Turner addressed her exit on social media, sharing a heartfelt message with fans.

“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close,” Turner wrote on June 26, sharing photos and videos from her time on the crime drama. “This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.”

The series introduces new talent to fill the void, with Arienne Mandi joining Chicago P.D. Season 13 as series regular Naomi Kerr, according to Deadline. Kerr brings a unique background as a former soldier and military contractor who reportedly thrives in dangerous situations, per the outlet.

As production continues and the fall premiere quickly approaches, signs point to Chicago P.D. Season 13 continuing the show’s legacy of intense, character-driven drama.
