Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 18 Release Date and Time

While there are many TV dramas about police officers, Chicago P.D. is at the top of its game and is still one of the most fascinating shows in the genre. Now in its 12th season, the NBC drama follows well-written and tough characters working in the Chicago Intelligence Unit such as Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). Season 12 premiered on September 25th, 2024 and, like every new episode of The Rookie, combines dark cases with the personal issues of the main characters.

Although sometimes a show gets old and stale by the time it reaches its 10th season, let alone its 12th, Chicago P.D. has as many intriguing storylines and richly drawn characters as ever. So, when does Chicago P.D. season 12, episode 18 air, and what story will it focus on?

How To Watch Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 18, "Demons"

Kiana Cook (Toya Turner), Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) on Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. season 12, episode 18, "Demons," will air on NBC on Wednesday April 16th at 10 p.m. E.T. Fans can also stream the episode the next day on Peacock.

While fans have enjoyed a new episode every Wednesday since the latest season premiered in September 2024, there is no new episode on Wednesday April 9th. Sadly, viewers will have to wait one week before episode 18. The most recent episode, "Transference," aired on April 2nd and focused on the relationship between new character Val Soto (Natalee Linez) and Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins). Since Atwater is a fan-favorite character, viewers enjoyed seeing an episode that was all about him.

The official description for Chicago P.D. season 12, episode 18 reads:

"Voight and Chapman work together to uncover Deputy Chief Reid's shadow dealings as Reid assigns Intelligence to a carjacking case."

When viewers tune into a new episode of Chicago P.D., they're sometimes surprised by tragic deaths, like Nadia Decotis (Stella Maeve) in season 2. But even when the plot isn't quite as devastating as that, there are often complex dynamics between two compelling characters, which keeps fans coming back. It sounds like the next episode of the NBC drama will focus on the relationship between Voight and new character Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy). It's always exciting when Voight works on a case since the confident, intelligent, brash, and experienced officer is great at his job. It often feels like nothing can get past him. But Reid is a thorn in his side, and Voight doesn't know if he can trust him. Since they're supposed to be on the same team, that complicates matters. Although Voight has always been focused on solving crimes and helping people, his ego sometimes gets in the way.

In an interview with NBC.com in January 2025, Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan talked about Reid and said:

"He’s a character that certainly doesn’t lead with the honesty, you know? He doesn’t lead with the truth right away and so the fun thing about him is that it’s going to be a slow build of finding out what his real motivations are, and for Voight, having this relationship with somebody who is a bit of a chameleon, is very hard to get to know. And once he does get to know him more, what is Voight going to think of Reid’s philosophy?"

What Has Happened So Far On Chicago PD Season 12?

Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) in Chicago PD

Like every memorable Law & Order: SVU episode that focuses on crimes and character developmentChicago P.D. season 12 has been an intriguing journey. Two big moments happened at the end of season 11: Voight almost died when serial killer Frank Matson (Dennis Flanagan) kidnapped him, and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos)

decided to leaveWhen the new season premiered, fans wondered how this big change would affect the Intelligence Unit since Voight was a mentor to Upton.

Chicago P.D. season 12 is just as exciting as new shows premiering in 2025 and has featured some big cases, from a shooting at a diner that Kim Burgess visited to two serial killers. New characters such as Kiana Cook (Toya Turner), Val Soto (Natalee Linez), and Emily Martel (Victoria Cartagena) were also added this season. As the Intelligence Unit faces a new case in each episode, Chicago P.D.'s strong character development continues. This season in particular has done a great job of showing Voight's PTSD from his near-death experience and the challenging cases he has worked on throughout his career.
