Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 19 Release Date & Time

As Chicago PD Season 12 nears its finale, signs of change are everywhere. Episode 18, "Demons," advanced the season's main conflict between Hank Voight and Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, while also hinting that Dante Torres could soon be departing the series. Season 12 has also given Kevin Atwater his first major romance, it's been leading up to the wedding between Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess, and it has featured a new addition to the main cast.

This week's Chicago PD is turning its attention back to Season 12's newest hero, Officer Kiana Cook. Entitled "Name Image Likeness," Episode 19 looks to be taking a break from the season's overarching plot, in favor of a traditional, self-contained story. Season 12, Episode 9, "Friends and Family," offered fans Cook's backstory, but this will be her first real chance at further character development.

Officer Cook Continues to Be Put in the Spotlight in Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 19

First introduced in Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 2, "Blood Bleeds Blue," Officer Cook has been a welcome addition to the series' cast. She's brought a fresh new presence to the Intelligence Team; she has great chemistry with her co-workers, especially Torres, and both the personal and professional aspects of her backstory do enough to set her apart from Chicago PD's abundance of other characters. Now, after spending most of the back half of Season 12 either absent or in supporting roles, Cook is finally getting another focus episode.

Season 12, Episode 19, "Name Image Likeness," will follow Cook as she takes on a case surrounding a suspicious and well-connected college athlete. NBC has released both a 15-second promo and a logline for the new episode. The latter reads, "Cook works with a confidential informant for the first time in a robbery-murder case with links to a star college athlete."

With the final episodes looking to be dominated by the core group of Voight, Ruzek, Burgess, and Atwater, and a potential "goodbye" storyline for Torres having been set up, giving Cook one more chance to take center stage is a good move on Chicago PD's part. Also, smart is the choice to have a few more stand-alone episodes before moving to Season 12's thrilling finale. Whether a fan is interested in seeing more of Cook or just a traditional case, "Name Image Likeness" should be an enjoyable time.

Chicago PD Season 12, Episode 19, "Name Image Likeness," will premiere on NBC on Wednesday, April 23rd, in all time zones. On Thursday, April 24th, fans invested in Officer Cook's story will be able to find the episode on NBC's streaming service, Peacock. Next Wednesday, the series will be taking a small break, and there will not be a new episode of Chicago PD. Season 12, Episode 20, "Black Ice," will instead air on May 7th. NBC has released a logline for this episode that reads, "Ruzek witnesses a tragic accident on an icy bridge, leading Intelligence into a dark, sinister case involving sex trafficking."

With Chicago PD, it's never clear which characters will survive from season to season, or what types of roles a character will be given. Come Season 13, Officer Cook could either be given an increased amount of focus, on par with the series' classic heroes, or she could be off the show entirely. "Name Image Likeness" will thus either be the first of many traditional focus episodes for her or her early swan song.
