Chief Reid Tackles a Dangerous Case in New 'Chicago P.D.' Season 12, Episode 18 Images

Intelligence Unit boss Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has defeated many foes in the past, but his latest adversary, Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy), this one may prove to be his toughest challenge yet. Chicago P.D. Season 12 introduced Reid as the unit's primary antagonist, and as the season races toward its finale, his ongoing conflict with Voight is building to a breaking point. In Season 12, Episode 18, "Demons," Reid will return with new tricks up his sleeve. However, unbeknownst to him, Voight has already begun unraveling his schemes, and it's only a matter of time before Voight launches a retaliation.

In the previous Chicago P.D. Season 12 episode focusing on the Voight/Reid rivalry, the Intelligence Unit boss resolved to begin digging into his shady boss's past. Voight's investigation yielded some results, including the discovery that Reid is conniving with the drug dealer, Jesus Otero. Reid's success as a corrupt cop is thanks to his manipulative tactics, blackmailing officers with incriminating information as leverage. In "Demons," Voight is likely to uncover even more of Reid's dark secrets with the synopsis teasing, "Voight and Chapman work together to uncover Deputy Chief Reid's shadow dealings as Reid assigns Intelligence to a carjacking case."

A previously released teaser revealed that the stolen car contained "a half a million worth of dope," which could likely be linked to Otero. The teaser shows Reid lashing out at Voight, demanding that Intelligence speed up on the case. This could explain why all the still images from the episode show the team working out on the field, perhaps to meet up with Reid's escalating demands. One image previews the growing tension between Voight and Reid as they confront each other on the streets.

Reid Will Attempt To Bypass Voight's Leadership

Knowing Reid, his decision to task intelligence with the carjacking case is likely part of a larger plan to manipulate the outcome. However, Voight won't make it easy for him. Naturally, the chief will push for the use of unethical methods in the investigation, which Voight will likely resist. This will trigger Reid's paranoia, prompting him to by-pass Voight's authority and directly order officers to do his bidding. In a recent interview, Hatosy previewed what's ahead, revealing, "So because Voight isn’t operating the way that Reid needs to, he goes around him, and he goes to Torres, and that is a line that Reid is willing to cross. It sets up a very nice scene between Hank and Reid where Hank is like, 'Don’t go around my back and talk to my team.' And Reid is like, 'Yo, this is my team. I’m your boss. You guys work for me.'"

Tune to NBC to see how the rivalry develops when "Demons" airs on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. In the meantime, check out the images above.
