The Bengals selected Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou with the No. 17 overall pick in our first On SI mock draft of the year.
Why take Membou with key defensive tackles and edge rushers still on the board?
It's simple: Membou is arguably a top 10 player in this class and should be a day one starter for the Bengals.
He played right tackle at Missouri, but most analysts and scouts believe he'd be a better fit at guard. He's listed somewhere between 6'3" and 6'4", weighs 332 pounds and is only 20-years-old.
Most offensive tackles are taller, which makes him an ideal guard at the NFL level.
Despite his age, he excelled for the Tigers in pass protection, giving up just one sack last season.
The Bengals need to bolster the interior of their offensive line. Pairing Membou with Amarius Mims would bring stability to the right side of their offensive line for the foreseeable future.
Scouts also believe Membou has plenty of power in the run game—and at 20-years-old, he's only going to get stronger.
