Day 1 is in the books for the 2025 NFL Draft and we watched 32 players come off the board during the opening night.
The Cleveland Browns drafted Michigan DT Mason Graham at No. 5 overall after trading the rights to drafting Travis Hunter to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Heading into Day 2 of the draft on Friday, the Browns are scheduled to have a second-round pick and two picks in the third round. Here is what the Browns need to address on Day 2:
Quarterback
The Browns opted to not take a quarterback in the first round and still need to take one. Since they have two second-round selections early, it would be smart for the Browns to make that happen on Day 2.
Cleveland signed Joe Flacco after trading for Kenny Pickett. They do not have to play the rookie they take this year unless a catastrophe of injuries happens. With a couple of solid fits on the board, it is hard to see the Browns not taking one in the second round.
Potential fits:
• Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders
• Alabama QB Jalen Milroe
• Louisville QB Tyler Shough
Offensive tackle
A few offensive tackles went in the first round and the top ones are off the board. Still, there are players there for the Browns to get in the second or third rounds on Day 2 of the draft. Cleveland picks at No. 33 and could opt to grab a tackle, or they could trade back and take one.
Cleveland hopes that Dawand Jones can be the left tackle of the future but he’s been unable to stay unhealthy to this point. The Browns have Jack Conklin at right tackle and he’s been good when on the field. However, Conklin has also struggled with injuries and isn’t getting any younger. Bringing in another tackle of the future is key for the future of the offensive line.
Potential fits:
• Ohio State OT Josh Simmons
• Minnesota OT Aireontae Erasers
• William & Mary OT Charles Grant
Running back
Cleveland Browns currently have Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr. as the top two running backs on their roster. Nick Chubb could be brought back at some point but can only be relied upon as depth following two straight season-ending injuries. The Browns have to bring in more youth in this draft and ideally find their running back of the future.
When the Browns drafted Chubb back in 2018, it came in the second round out of Georgia. Luckily for the Browns, this is a great draft to need a running back in. With two third-round picks, the Browns should use one of those to grab a running back.
Potential fits:
• Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson
• Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins
• Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson
• Kansas State RB DJ Giddens
• Virginia Tech RB Bhayshul Tuten
• Kansas RB Devin Neal
Wide receiver
Cleveland watched Elijah Moore go in free agency and while he is still available, the Browns haven’t opted to bring him back. Past Jerry Jeudy, the team is rather bare at wideout. Cedric Tillman flashed some last year but missed half the season with a concussion.
After not taking Hunter at No. 2, the Browns have to add a solid wideout in this round and there are some good options out there.
Potential fits:
• Missouri WR Luther Burden
• Iowa State WR Jayden Higgins
• Ole Miss WR Tre Harris
• Utah State WR Jaylin Noel
