Cleveland Browns have finished up their Day 2 selections in the 2025 NFL Draft and they made the shock of the draft so far.
The Browns made LB Carson Schwesinger, RB Quinshon Judkins, and TE Harold Fannin Jr. their first three picks on the second day of the draft.
Cleveland traded the No. 2 pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars and picked up a 2026 first-round pick in the process, which could point to them trading up for a quarterback. However, the Browns just took a quarterback who wasn’t expected to go on Day 2.
Browns draft Oregon Ducks QB Dillon Gabriel and it’s the surprise of the draft so far
With the No. 94 pick in the third round, the Browns took Gabriel as their quarterback in this draft. Many expected the Browns to kick one in the first or second round, instead, they waited until the third round. Cleveland met with Gabriel multiple times and was a quarterback that Kevin Stefanski keyed in on.
Gabriel had a fourth-round grade, according to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, and was his No. 9 quarterback. His ADP at A to Z Sports was No. 164. Cleveland drafting Gabriel was the No. 5 quarterback to go so far in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At 5-foot-11 and left-handed, the Browns are working with an outlier at the position. Gabriel has parts to his game that Stefanski will value with his accuracy, ability to play on time, and moving ability. Gabriel played six seasons in college between UCF, Oklahoma, and Oregon. The 64 college games are plenty of experience and he held a 30-6 touchdown to interception ratio each of the last two seasons.
Cleveland passed on Sanders, Will Howard, Kyle McCord, and Quinn Ewers to make this selection. The 24-year-old quarterback will join Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.
