Cleveland Browns most impactful offseason addition comes as no surprise at all

The Cleveland Browns knew the offense needed a sure-handed No. 2 receiver, and so it went out and landed former Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Jeudy has always had the talent to be a premier wide receiver in the NFL.

In Cleveland, that may change. Bleacher Report recently put together a list of the most impactful additions of the offseason, and Jeudy was on the list for the Browns – and for good reason.

"With Jeudy and Amari Cooper, the Browns have a legitimate 1-2 pairing on the perimeter," Ryan Fowler wrote. "Wile Cooper has consistently faced double-teams and bracket coverages throughout his Cleveland tenure, the addition of Jeudy on the opposite side will force teams to account for both sides of the formation.

"Jeudy's burst and ability to rack up yards after the catch will add a unique element to the Browns offense."

Cleveland first landed Jeudy in a trade earlier in the offseason. The Browns traded a 2024 fifth-round pick (from Panthers via QB Baker Mayfield trade) and a 2024 sixth-round pick (from Houston via QB Deshaun Watson trade) to the Broncos.

What the team received in return is a former first-round pick who appeared in 57 games with 44 starts and recorded 211 receptions for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He will immediately be Cleveland's second-best receiver.

"I had heard that the Browns were interested in me even two years ago," Jeudy said when the trade went down, via the Browns' official team website. "To hear that, and then be here now is exciting. It's surreal. I feel like I am wanted, and the team has really made me feel welcome. The Browns already had a great receiving corps with guys like Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore and I think I will fit in with them. Amari is actually a guy I've been modeling my game after since I was young and we became friends while I was at Bama. I am excited to see what the future holds."
