The Colorado Eagles took a five of a possible six points away from the road trip.
Concluding their California road trip today, the Colorado Eagles faced the Bakersfield Condors (EDM). The Condors won their last meeting on Friday 2-1 in overtime off of a huge turnover. Jake Wise continues to be a productive addition to the Eagles. He has eight points in 10 games since joining the team and added two assists today. The Eagles ended the road trip with a 4–2 victory in Bakersfield and earned five of six potential points.
Takeaways
Kevin Madolese, despite not playing for a week because of the call-up to the Colorado Avalanche, played well. The goaltender stopped multiple high-danger chances by the Condors, even after 15 shots on goals in the first period. Mandolese would only see 19 more shots through the rest of the game. He allowed two goals on 34 shots and held the puck off enough to get a goal reversed in the second period.
Jere Innala had an assist in the second period on the Chase Bradley goal. Although his height is five-feet-10 inches, Innala is not afraid to dig into the boards. His work along the boards in the play led to the pass to Bradley and the goal. Innala is being used as an offensive force by the Eagles despite being a “rookie”. Innala is not afraid to shoot the puck and pinch down the slot either.
Special teams for the Eagles did an excellent job. They killed all six power plays for the Condors and scored on two of their own, including this tally from Nikita Prishchepov. Colorado has been struggling as of late on the power play, but made that the difference tonight.
