Colts Eye ‘Best Finisher’ in Draft to Strengthen Offensive Line After Will Fries Departure

The Indianapolis Colts are looking to solidify their offensive line after key departures in free agency, including former right guard Will Fries. With the hole left by Fries’ exit to the Minnesota Vikings, the Colts are eyeing a powerful draft prospect to fill the gap.

One standout option is Missouri Tigers’ offensive lineman Armand Membou, a versatile and explosive powerhouse who could step in and make an immediate impact. Known for his ability to finish plays with intensity, Membou is highly regarded for his physical traits and dominance on the field.

Game-Changing Potential

Standing 6-4 and weighing 332 pounds, Membou has the athleticism to excel in multiple positions, making him an ideal fit for the Colts. He posted impressive stats, including a 4.91-second 40-yard dash and a 34-inch vertical jump—both top-four results for offensive linemen. He allowed just eight pressures on 411 pass-blocking snaps in 2024 and boasts impressive metrics with a 90.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

Future-Proofing the Line

Membou’s ability to finish blocks with aggression and power sets him apart. “You can see the tone-setting traits on the tape; he drives defenders into the turf,” said ESPN’s Matt Bowen. If drafted, Membou could either fill in at right guard immediately or serve as the long-term successor to Braden Smith, who may be on his way out of Indianapolis in a few years.

While the Colts may have eyes on a tight end like Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland in the first round, bolstering the offensive line could be the smart move to ensure Anthony Richardson has the protection he needs to succeed. With a heavy ground attack expected in Shane Steichen’s offense, drafting Membou could be a game-changer for the Colts’ future.
