Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin will hold the NFL’s 2024 tackle title, totaling 173 tackles on the season, the most in the league.
Rounding out the top five this season were Budda Baker (164), Jamien Sherwood (158), Robert Spillane (158), and Roquan Smith (154).
Not too far down the list at No. 9 was fellow Colts’ defender Nick Cross with 146, followed by EJ Speed at No. 11 with 142 tackles this season.
Below is a look at which players have held the title of tackle champion in the last few NFL seasons:
2023: Bobby Wagner (183)
2022: Foyesade Oluokun (184)
2021: Foyesade Oluokun (192)
2020: Zach Cunningham (164)
2019: Bobby Wagner (159)
Along with the tackles, Franklin also generated 15 pressures as a blitzer this season, according to Pro Football Focus, while recording three pass breakups and two interceptions in coverage.
As a collective unit, it was another down season for the Indianapolis Colts defense that is now in search of a new defensive coordinator with the team moving on from Gus Bradley.
While the play on the field for this group has to improve, doing so starts off the field, as defensive tackle DeForest Buckner discussed recently, with all 11 defenders having the right mindset.
