In Sunday's home game against the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor made amends for his Week 15 gaffe.
Early in the third quarter of a 31-13 loss to the Denver Broncos, Taylor dropped the ball before he crossed the goal line on a would-be touchdown, resulting in a touchback. Denver then scored 24 unanswered points.
Perhaps the embarrassing play motivated Taylor. In a 38-30 win over Tennessee, he rushed for a season-high 218 yards on 29 carries. He also scored three rushing touchdowns, including a 65-yarder and 70-yarder.
The Colts improved to 7-8 following the win and kept their slim playoff hopes alive. NFL.com's playoff picture gives them a 12% chance to make the postseason.
Even if Indianapolis doesn't make the playoffs, Taylor likely redeemed himself with an excellent performance. He also made franchise history.
According to NFL Research's Tony Holzman-Escareno, Taylor and Hall of Fame RB Edgerrin James are the only Colts with 200 or more rushing yards and three or more rushing TDs in a game.
