The Colts made the roster move on Thursday.
Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Colts today waived/failed physical cornerback Ambry Thomas.
Thomas, 6-0, 190 pounds, was claimed by the team off waivers (from San Francisco) on December 18, 2024. He played in 42 career games (11 starts) in four seasons (2021-24) with the 49ers and compiled 65 tackles (53 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, 12 passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 14 special teams stops. Thomas also tallied four kickoff returns for 70 yards (17.5 avg.). He saw action in five postseason contests (four starts) and registered 27 tackles (21 solo) and one pass defensed. Thomas was originally selected by San Francisco in the third round (102nd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Michigan. In 2024, he spent Weeks 1-15 on the 49ers' Injured Reserve list. His first name is pronounced AM-bree.
