Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been put through the wringer over the last six months.

Colts WR Sends Clear Message to Anthony Richardson, Daniel Jones Amid QB Competition

He entered the 2024 season with sky high expectations following an impressive rookie year, although it was cut short due to a season ending shoulder injury.

The third-year player has flashed the potential to be one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks to ever play the game.

But his concerning accuracy issues and injury issues have halted his development exponentially.

Richardson has received criticism from his head coach, general manager, owner, fanbase, and millions of fans outside of Indianapolis as well.

It must be overwhelming for a 22-year-old to be put under such intense pressure so early on in his career.

But luckily, he has tons of people in his corner that have been giving him uplifting messages as well.

Earlier this week, Colts safety Nick Cross reaffirmed his belief in Richardson, calling the third-year quarterback one of the best talents he’s seen.

It had to feel good to hear some praise from a close friend after so much negativity surrounding him.

Last week, wide receiver Josh Downs was asked to comment on the Florida product and what the quarterback competition would be like with Daniel Jones.

Downs detailed his friendship with Richardson, and although they haven’t connected yet this Summer to work out together, he’s heard that his young leader has looked great so far.

The 2023 third-round pick said that he’s also been in contact with Jones and that he’s excited to play with whoever wins the competition.

He believes that both quarterbacks are extremely talented and has no reservations about catching passes from either one.

The Colts are set to begin offseason workouts next week, so we should get the first real update about who has the upper edge in the competition for the starting job.

There is undoubtedly more pressure on Richardson, but these words of encouragement should help to boost his confidence before embarking on this battle.
