Nathan McSweeney has been dropped after three Tests as opener with Sam Konstas getting a first call-up in a 15-man squad for the final two Tests in the series against India.
McSweeney passed 10 just once in six innings this series with Bumrah claiming his wicket four times.
Konstas is not guaranteed a debut but his addition to the squad caps a remarkable rise.
Also added from the team that drew the third Test are Sean Abbott, Beau Webster and Jhye Richardson.
Tasmanian all-rounder Webster is a chance to replace Mitchell Marsh who failed in both innings with the bat in Brisbane and was only given two overs of bowling.
Scott Boland is all but certain to replace Josh Hazlewood after he broke down with a calf injury at the Gabba with Abbott and Richardson as options.
Konstas would become the youngest opener in Australian cricket history if the 19-year-old makes the final cut.
“It would be a dream come true,” he said after his stunning half-century for the Thunder in the BBL earlier this week when asked about a potential Test debut.

“Maybe I’d get a little nervous before the game, but I’ve worked really hard for that. Hopefully, it happens one day, but we’ll see.”
“The squad provides options as to how we structure the XI for the final two Tests of the series,” said chair of selectors George Bailey.
“Sam gets a call up to the Test squad for the first time. His style of batting offers a point of difference and we look forward to watching his game develop further.
“We remain confident Nathan has the ability and temperament to succeed at Test level in the future. It was a difficult decision to leave him out.
“It has clearly been a challenge at the top of the order for batters throughout the series and we want to provide the option of a different line up for the next two matches.
“In the absence of Josh Hazlewood, Jhye provides further options in the fast bowling space. It has been pleasing to see his successful return throughout the early part of the domestic summer.”
McSweeney, opening partner Usman Khawaja and first drop Marnus Labuschagne struggled against the new ball in the series, particularly against Bumrah, who has 21 wickets for the series.
The decision will come as a blow to McSweeney, who was out nicking in both innings in the drawn third Test in Brisbane.
It also protects Khawaja, 38, whose form has been on decline.

Former Test selector Merv Hughes said bringing Konstas in for a debut now would be a “panic call”.
“It would have been a bold call bringing him in at the start of the season,” Hughes told The Daily Telegraph.
“Now it would almost be a panic call to me.
“There’s not that much they can do with the scheduling now. All the state players are into Big Bash mode.
“Just stay calm. They drew the last Test. The last two Tests have been a draw and a win, so what is there to panic about.”
