The Indianapolis Colts announced last week that they re-signed tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Over the Cap now has those contract details.
Alie-Cox is returning to the Colts on a one-year, $2.2 million deal. His base salary for the 2025 season is $2.032 million and includes $1.03 million guaranteed. Alie-Cox also received a $167,500 signing bonus.
Altogether, Alie-Cox's cap hit for the 2025 season is $1.422 million.
Bringing Alie-Cox back isn't going to change the Colts' plans at the tight end position in the NFL draft. That is still a major need.
However, what re-signing him does accomplish is that it helps elevate the floor of this unit and brings back a very good blocking presence, which is a vital skill set to playing tight end in Shane Steichen's offense.
If the Colts were to move on from Alie-Cox prior to the season, they would take on a dead cap hit of $1.97 million. My guess is that dead cap hit isn't enough to stop Indianapolis from releasing Alie-Cox if other players and a new addition(s) emerge at this position during training camp.
The Colts currently have $23.15 million in available cap space, which ranks 18th in the NFL. Along with signing Alie-Cox last week, which took up some cap space, the Colts also released Matt Gay, and that created some room.
