Could Angela Bassett Date Joshua Jackson on ‘Doctor Odyssey’ After Peter Krause’s ‘9-1-1’ Death?

Peter Krause‘s body isn’t even cold yet after Bobby’s shocking 9-1-1 death, but is Ryan Murphy already setting Angela Bassett‘s Athena up with Joshua Jackson‘s Max on Doctor Odyssey?

Could Angela Bassett Date Joshua Jackson on Doctor Odyssey After Peter Krause s 9 1 1 Death 065

9-9-1 fans were in for a startling surprise when the Thursday, April 17, episode of the hit ABC series ended with Bobby’s death — especially since he was a main character on the show since it premiered in 2018. While most viewers are expecting Bobby’s widow, Athena, to go through a lengthy mourning period, is it possible that she has already met her next love interest?

Befo

re Bobby was killed off, Athena was featured in the first crossover between 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey. The fact that Athena even set foot on a cruise ship after suffering trauma on the high seas in past seasons of 9-1-1 was shocking. Then there was the fact that Bobby didn’t join his wife on screen.

“I was like, ‘That doesn’t make sense,’” Bassett, 66, told TVLine in March. “Athena would never get back on a boat again. I just can’t imagine what would get her back on board, other than to go on, turn around and come right back off. [That experience is] still fresh in the cells of her body. It’s very anxiety provoking for Athena to be on that boat for any amount of time.”

Bassett said producers returned “with a great scenario where Bobby didn’t have to go” that made more sense, adding, “Unfortunately, we made it worse.”

Doctor Odyssey

While the accidental cruise ship trip wasn’t on Athena’s bucket list, she ended up solving a case and having a good time with Jackson’s Max by her side during the show’s Casino Week. Jackson, 46, for his part, was equally as excited to act opposite Bassett.

“It was an opportunity for me to get dressed up and flirt with Angela Bassett,” he joked about Max and Athena’s interactions during an interview with TVLine. “Apologies, Mr. [Courtney B.] Vance. It was respectful but shameless.”

Jackson continued to praise Bassett after telling People that same month that she was “on my personal actor bucket list for many, many years.” After the episode premiered, Jackson didn’t rule out more appearances in the future.

“She came into our world for this crossover, and I think it would be absolutely hysterical to take The Odyssey crew to 9-1-1 and just to have us in our sparkly whites, show up and be like, ‘Hey, we’re here to help. What’s going on?’” he told Decider. “See them try to deal with us.”

Jackson added: “But the Bee-nado and Poseidon Adventure, [when the cruise ship] flipped upside down, they just — we got nothing on them. They do disaster.“

While no more crossover episodes have been announced yet, Jackson has proven to Us that he’s nothing if not creative when it comes to potential story lines. In March, Jackson pitched a crossover with creator Murphy’s upcoming series All’s Fair.

“Their whole law firm goes on a company retreat to the Odyssey,” he shared with Us while his costar Sean Teale took it one step further by pitching the first divorce to take place on the ship. Jackson noted that his character and Phillipa Soo‘s Avery were the most likely contenders due to their off-and-on relationship status on the show.

“Avery and I get married and then immediately realize it’s a terrible mistake,” Jackson quipped at the time. “We hire their law firm and then hijinks ensue.”
