Could Mitch Marner Wind Up With The Rangers?

We all know that the Rangers need help and we all know that Mitch Marner will bolt Toronto as a free agent faster than you can say money talks or pennies from Heaven. (Well, he's not gonna be THAT free.)

And since one and one make three in some hockey agents' offices, how about Mitch Marner bolting for MSG. He'd look good in a blue shirt.

With that in mind, I contacted my crack Toronto Maple Leafs reporter Mark Nussbaum for his insights re Marner in Manhattan.

"There's going to be a lineup for Mitch's services on July first," says Nussbaum. "On paper, the Rangers could use him. He's a premier two-way forward and a top-notch playmaker. He could fit well in New York – BUT.

"The Rangers' problem is Cap Space of which they have $15 million and Marner is looking for a contract north of $14 million. Chris Drury will have to pass on Mitch  because his team has so many other holes to fill and will need money to fill them."

And so ends the Mitch Marner as Ranger Saga.

(Memo to all Rangers Faithful: You are allowed to dream about Marner as a New Yorker, but it will turn into a nightmare!
