A reunion between former Chicago Blackhawks stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews on the Winnipeg Jets could happen in the 2025-26 NHL Season.
Jonathan Toews, is making his return to the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets next season. He is expected to sign with his hometown team on July 1, at the start of free agency.
The 37-year-old has not played since the 2022-23 season due to long COVID and chronic immune response syndrome. That year, he had 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 53 games.
Toews played 15 seasons with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, and 2015), and finishing with 883 points (372 goals, 511 assists) in 1,067 games.
Kane, 36, is set to hit free agency this offseason after putting up 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists) in 72 games with the Detroit Red Wings. While it was fun seeing him reunited with Alex DeBrincat in Detroit, many Blackhawks fans would prefer to see the dynamic duo of the Blackhawks' 2010s dynasty go on one more Stanley Cup playoff run — and the Jets have the roster and depth for that.
Jets fan and TSN's Jeese Pollock posted on Twitter that he would love to see Kane join Toews in Winnipeg. "Hey Patty Kane- You're more than welcome to join your pal Jonathan Toews in Winnipeg for another Cup run," he said.

Why the hell not?!
According to Daily Faceoff, Toews is expected to start as the Jets' second-line center. If Kane signs, he could slide into the top six and help boost the Jets' offense.
For Blackhawks fans, seeing Kane and Toews play one more time would be absolute nostalgia. It would be a chance to see two Blackhawks legends go on one final run together.
Free agency opens July 1, and while Blackhawks fans are watching what Chicago does in free agency they will also have to keep an eye on some former franchise icons in Toews and Kane.
