Craig Conover's cryptic comment on Summer House Season 9 foreshadowed his breakup with Paige DeSorbo.
The writing seemed to be on the wall for Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover on Summer House Season 9.
With Paige booked and busier than ever — and about to embark upon a 60-city Giggly Squad podcast tour — then-boyfriend Craig jetted from Charleston to New York City for a relationship "health check" over dinner at an Australian restaurant, as seen in Season 9, Episode 5.
Noting that their hectic schedules made him sometimes feel like they were living "a single life," the Southern Charm-er wanted to make sure they could continue to prioritize their relationship and not let it "fall to the wayside."
Though Paige insisted she didn't want Craig to "ever feel neglected," she took the opportunity to set some expectations, as her career as a podcaster and social media influencer "took a different turn." As a result of her work, she couldn't travel as much anymore, much less "find two weeks to freeze [her] eggs."
"You're absolutely a priority. But I also need you to be a little bit OK that like, yeah, there's gonna be some weeks, especially this year, that I'm not gonna be able to come down and just chill in the backyard," she explained to Craig. "I haven’t had a day off since, I don’t know when."
But Craig’s response seemingly foreshadowed what was to come for the two, as viewers know the pair ultimately split toward the end of 2024: "I was just being honest that if you were this busy for the rest of our lives, I wouldn't see it working out."

Why did Craig and Paige fight before breaking up?
Though Craig’s statement led Paige to ask if he was breaking up with her, they weren’t there quite yet. (More on that later.) Instead, he laid out more of his reasoning.
"I know you're gonna choose work 10 times out of 10 right now in our lives, but if we were married and we had kids, like, you can't choose work all the time," he explained.
Sharing that she felt he viewed her growing success as "a bad thing," the Giggly Squad podcast co-host worried that she would "feel guilty" if Craig ever wasn’t her number-one priority. And though he insisted that he didn’t want her to "slow down," Paige didn’t quite believe him.
"I think that if I said, 'Let's have a baby tomorrow, you'd be like, 'F–k yeah. Let's settle down, let's just have a kid, let's live in Charleston, let's, like, live a slow life,'" she said. "I don’t ever want to live a slow life."
Paige wasn’t wrong.
