Craig Berube is currently in his first season as head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and there is no doubt that this is going to be an exciting season.
Berube has a championship pedigree and many believe that he is the guy who can take this Leafs roster to the promised land. Having said that, it is not going to be easy. In fact, the preseason has been a test for Berube. He has had to manage some youngsters and he is already making some cuts. Moreover, the team is 0-2 in the preseason right now which means adjustments are coming.
However, one reporter has mistaken this slow start as a bit of a problem. Below, they ask Berube if he is pressing the panic button. Berube seemed stunned at the question, as this is the preseason. There is no reason to panic, and the preseason has never actually meant all that much.
'No. It's preseason. It's preseason, so... We're looking at preparing for the regular season. It's the second game. We're looking at young guys. We're looking at players. So, you know, that's what it's about.'
Bad question aside, there is no doubt that this Leafs season is going to be interesting. This is especially true when it comes to the media. The Toronto press can be brutal especially if a team is struggling. This Maple Leafs squad also has a lot of expectations, which adds to the dynamic. Berube is tasked with performing to the best of his abilities, and he will need to get this team in shape quickly.
