After starting their season with a 2-4 record in their first six games, the Chicago Cubs are heating up. The Cubs have won each of their last two games against the Athletics, outscoring the AL West club 25-7 in the process. This included an 18-3 win over the Athletics on March 31.
Now, the Cubs will aim to extend their winning streak to three games when they take on the Athletics on Wednesday afternoon. This will be a game for all Cubs fans to watch, as one of their stars has the potential to make history.
If Kyle Tucker hits a home run against the Athletics on Wednesday, he will become just the sixth player in Cubs history to hit a homer in five consecutive games. The only Cubs who have accomplished this feat are Michael Busch (2024), Christopher Morel (2023), Sammy Sosa (1998), Ryne Sandberg (1989), and Hack Wilson (1928).
It would certainly be massive if Tucker ends up reaching this achievement. Seeing a player hit a home run in five straight games is incredibly rare, but with the way Tucker is swinging the bat, he has a shot of doing so.
Tucker was acquired by the Cubs this past December from the Houston Astros, and the three-time All-Star has certainly lived up to the hype so far. In eight games this season with the Cubs, he has four home runs, five doubles, 11 RBIs, 12 hits, and a .353 batting average. Now, we will need to wait and see if he can make Cubs history by homering in his fifth straight game from here.
