Cubs Target Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Breaks Silence on $500 Million Contract Rumors

The Chicago Cubs have been linked to Guerrero over the better part of the past year in a potential trade or free agency next winter if he doesn't agree to a new deal.

While the Cubs are set at first base with Michael Busch, it's tough to pass on a player of Guerrero's status if he becomes available.

Despite the rumors of Guerrero coming close to a deal, he revealed that he doesn't know anything about what's happening behind the scenes. Guerrero said his agent focuses on that, and he's here to play.

"Well, until now, I don't know anything. I've always tried to talk to my agent and I've always left that to my agent. I focus on playing. Until now, I don't know what you're talking about," Guerrero said, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN.

This is yet another example of Guerrero saying all the right things, which should make the Cubs and every other team in baseball want him even more if he becomes available.

However, signs point to the Cubs not being able to have a chance to get him next winter. Unless something doesn't come to light over the next few months, which is always possible, Chicago will have to put its focus on someone else in 2025-26 free agency.a
