A pair of Buffalo Sabres blueliners opposed each other in rivalry day at the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal, as Buffalo Sabres team captain Rasmus Dahlin once again stood out for Sweden in a 4-3 overtime loss to Henri Jokiharju and Team Finland at the Bell Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Dahlin tied the game early in the second period, crashing the front of the net and beating Vancouver’s Kevin Lankinen on a rebound, and played nearly 19 minutes in the contest, but for the second game in a row, the Swedes went to extra time and came up on the short end, as Dallas Stars center Mikael Granlund beat former Sabre Linus Ullmark between the legs 1:49 into overtime.
Jokiharju, who scored the Finns only goal in their 6-1 loss to Team USA on Thursday, was -1 in the game in 16:01. Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was not dressed for the game, as Juuse Saros backed up Lankinen.
Both Sweden and Finland are still alive with two points, even after the result of the Canada-US contest on Saturday. The tournament will switch to TD Garden in Boston on Monday, with Canada facing Finland and Sweden taking on the US.
