Damn It! Firehouse 51 May Be Killing Off A "Fan Favorite" After Boden's Chicago Fire Season 13 Return

Chicago Fire season 13 is setting the stage for Chief Wallace Boden's return, but his comeback also sets up a "fan favorite" death for Firehouse 51. In general, One Chicago has lost so many characters in the past few years for various reasons. That said, arguably the most impacted by the TV franchise's mass exodus is Chicago Fire. From long-time players like Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett to relatively newcomers such as Jake Gibson, the procedural has experienced several losses recently. That said, the majority of them have just decided to move on from Firehouse 51.

Losing anyone, especially for a show that has been on the air for as long as Chicago Fire has been, will always be difficult. However, at least some of its recent exits were for happy reasons. Casey and Brett got married and moved to Oregon, while Chief Boden got promoted. During Chicago Fire's earliest years, however, deaths were the norm, as it was still trying to establish stakes. Chief Pascal recently experienced a massive loss with the death of Monica, although she isn't really part of the squad. Moving forward, however, the show may be looking at a big casualty.

Firehouse 51 May Be Losing One Of Its Own

For months, Chicago Fire season 13 has been progressing without Chief Boden. However, as promised, Eammon Walker will finally return to Firehouse with a narrative that is a little outside of the box for the series. In Chicago Fire season 13, episode 18, "Post Morten" will see him re-examine a call that went wrong for his old team "that left one of their own in peril." Walker has been doing the press rounds for the outing, and in an interiew with TV Insider, he reveals more information about it, including a potential death in Firehouse 51.

I can say this: I’m not going to tell you who it is. Nice try though. It is a fan favorite, and that’s why this episode works so well...

...If you’re an officer, you’re in question because you’re the ones who make all the decisions about to save the people in the house and to make sure that your fellow firefighters come home, and one of them didn’t. One of them got left behind, and that can’t happen. And not only did they get left behind, they got hurt, and they’re potentially going to die.

Who Firehouse 51's Next Possible Casualty Might Be

There Were Subtle Signs

Monica's death has been driving the storytelling for Chicago Fire season 13 for quite a while now, primarily because of how much it has impacted Chief Pascal. Prior to that, the death of Chief Evan Hawkins during a freak accident on a call affected Violet Mikami immensely, that she continues to be haunted by it from time to time. That said, it has been a while since the team actually experienced a loss of one of their own. This time, however, Firehouse 51's potential death is with someone from the actual squad.

Because of the lack of any explicit set up for this storyline, it's difficult to predict who that possible casualty may be. However, Chicago Fire season 13, episode 17's increased focus on Christopher Herrmann and Jack Damon might ring some bells. Granted that the newly-minted captain is just being supportive, considering how Benny Severide's secret son was seemingly bending over backwards to prove his worth, but it could be subtle foreshadowing for the upcoming tragedy. Ultimately, because of his eagerness to earn his place in Firehouse 51, Damon could find himself be the unintended casualty in Chief Boden's case.
