Dan Vladar has signed with the Philadelphia Flyers

In a move that adds experience and stability to their crease, the Philadelphia Flyers announced on Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Dan Vladar to a two-year, $6.7 million contract, carrying an average annual value of $3.35 million. The 27-year-old Czech netminder joins the Flyers after spending the past three seasons with the Calgary Flames.

Vladar is coming off a solid 2024–25 campaign, where he posted a 12-11-6 record with a 2.80 goals-against average, a .898 save percentage, and two shutouts in 30 games (29 starts). While serving as the backup to Jacob Markström in Calgary, Vladar proved to be a reliable presence when called upon, showing improved consistency and maturity in his game.

Originally drafted in the third round (75th overall) by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 NHL Draft, Vladar made his NHL debut in 2020 before being traded to Calgary in 2021. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, he offers a large and athletic frame in net, complemented by calm positioning and quick reflexes.

For the Flyers, this signing is a strategic move amid uncertainty surrounding their goaltending depth. With Carter Hart’s future unclear and the organization continuing to develop young goalies like Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov, Vladar brings a valuable mix of NHL experience and competitiveness to the crease.

Flyers General Manager Daniel Brière expressed optimism about the addition, stating, “Dan is a dependable goaltender who has shown he can step up when needed. His size, work ethic, and professional approach make him a great fit for our locker room.”

The two-year term allows the Flyers flexibility as they continue shaping their roster during this transitional phase. Vladar is expected to compete for the starting job or at the very least provide strong support in a tandem role.

Philadelphia fans will be watching closely to see how Vladar performs in his new environment—and whether he can help backstop the team back into playoff contention.
