Kyle Shilling and his partner Lily Cornish went next with a cha-cha-cha. While it was well received, all of the judges did call out Kyle’s poor technique.

Mark Wilson loved Karina Carvalho and her partner Andrey Gorbunov’s Viennese waltz. “I thought you really sold the performance beautifully,” he said.

As for Mia Fevola and her partner Gustavo Viglio, all of the judges agreed their cha-cha-cha was excellent.

Sadly, the same can’t be said for Osher Günsberg and his partner Sriani Argaet. He received the lowest score of the night for his and Sriani’s foxtrot.

And finally, Shaun Micallef and his partner Ash-Leigh Hunter performed a cheeky quickstep that both the audience and judges loved.

They then announced that six of the 12 would perform in this episode, and the other six in Episode 2.

Trent Cotchin and his partner Jess Raffa kicked off this year’s competition with an “assertive” tango; which got mixed reviews from the judges… Sharna Burgess loved it and Craig Revel Horwood said the performance “lacked any form of passion”.

Brittany Hockley and her partner Craig Monley performed a cha-cha-cha; she too got mixed reviews from the judges.

Harry Garside and his partner Siobhan Power took to the floor with a jive, which ALSO got mixed reviews from the judges… Helen Richey said Harry might be “the heavyweight in this competition” whereas Craig said his performance was “messy”.

Susie O’Neill and her partner Lyu Masuda also performed a tango. But it was not well received; she got the lowest score of the night.

Michael Usher on the other hand got the highest score of the night thanks to the foxtrot he performed with his partner Natalie Lowe. All four judges praised Michael for his “footwork” and “charisma”.
