At the hospital, Gio insists to Dante that he had no idea that Rocco was at the party, and when he found him, he was already in bad shape. He just assumed sleep and water would do the trick. Dante lashes out about how serious this is and how many parents he’s had to tell that their kid didn’t make it from this very type of incident. If anything happens to Rocco, Dante says, he’ll hold Gio responsible.
Lois Makes the Situation Worse
Lois steps in and says that she knows Dante is terrified, but Gio did what he thought was right in the moment. The youngster explains that he’s had friends who have gotten drunk before, and he took care of them. Cody insists that Gio was looking after Rocco when he found them. Cody even admits that he initially didn’t clue in to Rocco’s breathing, which only fuels Dante’s anger. Rocco could have died if Cody hadn’t found him.
Lois continues to support Gio, pointing out that he didn’t force Rocco to drink. Thankfully (or not), that’s when the doctor comes out with an update, interrupting them.
Dante and Lulu are allowed to see their son. Dr. Park says that they pumped his stomach, and Rocco will be fine. However, his blood alcohol was at a critical level, and Cody, noticing his breathing, saved his life. Rocco could have ended up in a coma or worse. Dante thanks the doctor, who gives them time with their son. Lulu cries that they got so lucky.
Rocco finally stirs awake and says he is sorry he let his parents down. Dante replies that they are just relieved he’s OK. Dante asks what he remembers, and he recounts playing a drinking game with some guys. The next thing he knew, he was in the boathouse with Danny and Gio. Lulu tells Rocco to rest, and they’ll talk more later.
In the waiting room, Gio gets a call from Danny at the boathouse. Danny asks where they are, and Gio fills him in on Rocco’s condition and that they are at the hospital. Danny feels terrible. Carly listens in and eventually asks to speak to Danny. She tells him that Rocco will be OK and that she is on her way to him.
Lois embraces Gio and says that what Dante told wasn’t right, he’s just angry. She tells Gio that he is a good kid. He notes that Dante doesn’t think so.
In Rocco’s room, Dante leaves Lulu with their son and steps out into the hall. Rocco thinks his dad is mad at him, but Lulu explains that he is scared, and his Dante is relieved he’s all right.
Dante tells Gio, Lois and Cody that Rocco will be OK and that it is nothing short of a miracle that he’s alive. He asks to speak with Gio in private, and Lois tags along.
Meanwhile, Cody drops in to see Lulu and Rocco and brings a silly stuffed dog, which was all that was left in the gift shop. Lulu asks how Dante is doing. Cody says that he, Gio and Lois went off to talk, so Lulu thinks she should check on that and asks Cody to sit with Rocco.
Lulu leaves, and Rocco thanks Cody for saving his life. Rocco asks how angry his dad is. Cody explains that he’s mad at what happened but not mad at him. Cody tells him part of growing up is making mistakes, learning from them, and doing better. He promises Dante will come around, as he’s a great father.
Elsewhere, Dante wants answers from Gio and asks if he took Rocco to the party. Gio insists that he didn’t. He says he was at the party with Joss and Emma, and Danny came to him about Rocco, which was the first he knew about them being there and drinking. He helped get them home. Dante says giving alcohol to a minor is a crime, and he could arrest him. Gio swears he never gave them any alcohol, and he didn’t see them drink. Dante asks how he knows Gio’s not lying. Lois blurts out that Gio doesn’t lie, and Dante blasts her for covering for the boy.
Lulu appears in the background, and Dante yells at Gio that he’s spent his whole life letting other people make decisions for him, but he’s an adult now. He just stood there and watched Rocco struggling to breathe, and he could have died, all because Gio didn’t want to get his buddy in trouble. Lulu takes note when Lois yells at Dante, “You don’t know what you are saying, and don’t know who Gio really is!” Dante is also puzzled by the statement.
Smooth, Lois. Real smooth.
Drew Learns the Truth — Partially
In an exam room, Brad is willing to tell Drew everything about who drugged him — for a price. Drew promises Brad half a million, so he sings like a canary and says it was Dr. Robinson, and he hopes Drew makes her pay.
Brad tells Drew that he doesn’t know why Portia drugged him, but she made him pull all of his medical records and get her the ketamine. Unfortunately, Portia made sure there was no evidence and set him up to look guilty.
Brad assumes that the sleazebag is going to go after Portia, but Drew is thinking strategically about the situation. He offers to double the money he promised Brad and get it to him in the morning, but the lab tech has to do one more thing for him.
Kai’s First Steps
Portia is with Trina as she waits at the door to Kai’s room for him to wake up after his surgery. Trina is so nervous for him, but Portia tells her she is proud of her daughter for standing by her friend. Kai stirs awake, sees them and tells Trina that he feels unstoppable.
Portia tells Kai he’s been through a lot and that his body needs to heal. She adds that she’ll update Dr. Mohinder, and he needs to rest. She leaves them, and Kai can’t thank Trina enough for her encouragement and support.
Kai marvels that he’s on the other side of the surgery, and nothing can hold him back now. Kai knows Trina was worried about paralysis, but he wiggles his toes and says the worst-case scenario is off the table.
Later, Portia and Trina wheel Kai out in the hall and try to let him stand on his own. Dr. Mohinder gave the OK. Trina helps Kai up, and he’s able to stand. He also manages to take a step, and Trina thinks he can do anything at this point. They embrace, but the look on Kai’s face appears to be one of concern.
Ava and Ric Press Their Luck
Ava picks Ric up from the hospital in her car. He asks how things are going with Alexis, and she tells him she’s on time with her payments. Ric admits that he told Alexis that he was in on this with her, and he’s set up a shell corporation for the payments with a corporate credit card for them.
Ava wants to be sure that they are in this together, as it seems like Ric has gone rogue. He says that the shell corporation is for both of them, not him, and he let Ava take the lead on the blackmail. They decide that the next order of business is to have some fun.
Carly Lectures Danny
Carly meets Danny at the boathouse and embraces him. She sits him down for a talk and tells him that he and Rocco had no business going to that party. Danny knows it was stupid. All he wanted to do was have fun, and it got out of control. It was his idea to go, and he had to convince Rocco to go with him. He explains that he left to play volleyball, and he feels terrible that Rocco got wasted without him.
Carly says that Danny was the leader. He left Rocco behind, so he should feel terrible. This is on him, and what he did was stupid. She makes him promise never to do this again and to apologize to Lulu and Dante. She points out that Jason gives him a lot of space because he trusts him, and now he has to prove that he’s earned that trust.
Danny cries that Rocco is his brother. He loves him and can’t believe he left him to play volleyball. Carly feels like maybe he’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie like his parents and heads for the excitement without looking behind him. She says moving forward, he should remember how he feels now and make smart choices so he never feels this way again. She says he and Rocco were lucky, so he needs to pay that luck forward.
Rocco promises to apologize and tell his dad everything that happened. Carly warns him to think about the bullet that he dodged the next time he considers picking up a drink.
Kristina Confides in Lucky
At the Brown Dog Bar, Kristina ignores calls from her mom and tells Lucky that Alexis is trying to have her committed. Lucky is shocked, and Kristina explains that her mom had papers drawn up but claimed that she changed her mind, and she only knows because Molly’s papers got mixed up with Diane’s. Lucky asks why Alexis decided to commit her. Kristina explains her mom was worried about her with everything she had been through this past year and thought she could use help. Lucky feels her mom isn’t entirely wrong.
Lucky goes so far as to suggest that perhaps Kristina’s mom was just concerned, and it’s OK to need help and take care of your mental health. Even his mom went through a period of hospitalization. Perhaps Kristina’s mom just wanted her to get help, and she should try to understand where she was coming from.
Kristina asks why her mom would do this now, not when Sam died or she lost the baby. Lucky asks if she told her about the “accident,” and Kristina says that she didn’t. However, she’s seen how emotional she’s been lately and misinterpreted it. Lucky sees this as her chance to do what she promised: bring her family together and not tear them apart.
Alexis Faces More Requests
At home, Alexis leaves another message with Kristina and looks at Helena’s dagger. Diane arrives and asks what has happened as her friend looks awful and is wielding a weapon. Alexis explains that the girls found the commitment papers when Diane and Molly’s papers got mixed up at the hospital. Diane feels she’s to blame and will explain everything, but Alexis says this is her problem to fix.
Alexis adds, needlessly, that this is bad, and Molly and Kristina are livid and feel blindsided, and they may never forgive her. Diane asks how Kristina was blindsided in all of this, given what she did. Alexis admits her daughter doesn’t know that she knows that Kristina tried to kill Ava.
Alexis says that Kristina saw it as the worst betrayal possible and didn’t know they were trying to protect her. Now, she can’t fix this as Kristina won’t talk to her.
Later, Diane is gone when Ric and Ava show up. They barge in and want to discuss their arrangement. Ava hands over documents on a shell company for her to invest the Cassadine money in. Ric says it will simply look as if she is only reinvesting the estate money and that she is to double the payments: one for him and one for Ava.
Alexis tells Ric and Ava that this is not a game, and there is enough money being moved around that someone will spot it and it will raise red flags. She says that if she’s arrested, she’ll take them down with her. Ric says they’ll make sure Kristina goes down, too, so no one better get caught. Suddenly, Kristina walks in and asks what is going on.
On the next General Hospital, Gio confides in Emma, and Brennan updates Joss and Vaughn.
