The Real Housewives franchise has brought viewers drama, controversy, and humor for almost twenty years, but with the good also comes the bad.
A new episode of Vice TV’s series “Dark Side of Reality TV” explores how a show about Housewives spurred some of the most controversial and compelling moments in reality TV history.
On the October 29th episode of the “Dark Side of Reality TV,” Bravolebs Vicki Gunvalson (Real Housewives of Orange County), Jeana Keough (Real Housewives of Orange County) Cynthia Bailey (Real Housewives of Atlanta), Aviva Drescher (Real Housewives of New York) and Jack Tarantino (Former Real Housewives of Orange County Showrunner) sit down to discuss the behind the scenes drama that created some of the most memorial and iconic Real Housewives moments.
In an exclusive preview, RHONY alum Aviva Drescher discusses how she ultimately became a villain in the New York Housewives franchise.
“I went from likable to unlikeable when I called the girls white trash in St. Barts. When it was aired, I think that’s when the audience turned on me. They didn’t like me at all, understandably,” Aviva explained.

“At that point, I just decided that I was going to lean into the villain that I had become, and it was more important to please production than it was to be myself,” she continued.
As OG Real Housewives fans know, Aviva became infamous on RHONY for performing for the cameras instead of being her authentic self. She infamously pitted her former Housewives against each other and, most notoriously, removed her protestic leg and threw it. Aviva is also remembered for her long list of various ailments and phobias.
The Real Housewives episode of “Dark Side of Reality TV” airs on Tuesday, October 29th at 9 ET/PT on VICE TV.
