The New York Jets are slowly working their way through their offseason to-do list and with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey hired as head coach and general manager respectively, attention now turns to the roster.
With so many decisions having to be made, exactly where Glenn and Mougey start is a head-scratcher.
But with Aaron Rodgers' future seemingly trending in the right direction to return per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, maybe the decision on No. 8 will come sooner rather than later.
For ESPN's Rich Cimini - and for wondering Jets fans - two big decisions are lying at the feet of Mougey.
"There are some building blocks on the roster, but Mougey must decide on Rodgers and formulate a long-term plan at quarterback," Cimini writes . "Another pressing issue is the future of wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who is eligible for a contract extension and could request a trade."
Likely seen as New York's two best offensive pieces, the experiment with Rodgers has failed. Granted, one season was lost to injury and 2024 was a case of getting his feet underneath him again.
Rodgers did build up chemistry with Garrett Wilson, but the receiver was clearly frustrated towards the end of the year, and that led to rumors of a potential trade away from Gang Green.
So Mougey must likely first put that fire out and get Wilson to remain in the building, and as for Rodgers, exactly what he does is anyone's guess at this point.
But Mougey won't get a gracing period as Jets general manager, with the futures of two big stars high on his to-do list.
