Davante Adams' latest social media post has Packers fans buzzing with speculation

Bài đăng mới nhất trên mạng xã hội của Davante Adams khiến người hâm mộ Packers xôn xao suy đoán

Wide receiver Davante Adams is still under contract with the New York Jets, but it seems like he is into the idea of playing again for the Green Bay Packers. Weeks after saying that he could eventually return to his old team, Adams went on Instagram to make a story with green and gold sneakers.

Maybe that doesn't mean anything, and it's impossible to know anything at this point of the offseason. But Packers fans on social media got really excited about possibly getting the star receiver back in 2025.

Deal

Davante still has two years left in his contract with the New York Jets, and is slated to make $36.25 million in each season.

However, there are no guarantees left, and 2025 was always seen as an inflection point in the contract Adams signed with the Las Vegas Raiders back in 2022.

The Jets can convince Adams to return under a new number, but that would demand the player's collaboration. If Davante doesn't want to play for New York, the only way to force him into the deal is paying the entirety of it.

If both sides agree not to be together moving forward, the Jets could potentially release or trade Adams before the regular season. And if Adams is traded, he could adjust a new contract with the acquiring team—or sign it as a street free agent if he's released.

Packers' process

At this point of his career, Adams wouldn't probably be a true wide receiver one like he was in the final years of his first stint in Green Bay. But the Packers don't feel like they need that piece.

"I know the term 'number one receiver' gets thrown out a lot, I think it just depends on what that means to you," general manager Brian Gutekunst said after the season. "I'd like our football team to get to a point where we can win in situational football better than we have right now. For us to do that, that group is gonna have to take some steps, and I think they will. They're on the right track."

Davante played for the Packers in his eight first NFL seasons, from 2014 to 2021. In 2022, he decided to leave, and Green Bay applied a franchise tag but later traded him to the Raiders.

In 2024, he was traded to the Jets for a third-round pick. Even at 32, he was still extremely productive with Aaron Rodgers. In 11 games, he had 67 catches for 854 yards, and seven touchdowns.

Adams has been a First-Team All-Pro three times and a Pro Bowler six times throughout his career, in addition to being the receiving touchdown leader twice.
